Turning McKenzie Friends into McKenzie Angels

McKenzie Friends are ‘amateur lawyers’ who help and support Litigants in Person.

When Maurice Kirk asked for support in the courtroom, blogger Angela suggested we need “guardian angels”.

McKenzie Angel T-shirtHence McKenzie Angels were created as labels for those helpful humans who come for moral and / or legal support.

A comment from Paulette Cooper:

A large angel with scales of justice in one hand stood behind a victim which has his head in his hands in despair comes to mind for a drawing. Angel’s other hand on his shoulder and a pile of court docs on a desk in front of him/her.

Maybe a better idea still would be if those McKenzie Angels could come to a consensus on how to tackle the most common problems in law, maybe even have those in some written ‘fact sheets’ ready to send to victims to do with the most common issues and that each new victim could be connected with their own McKenzie Angel who would be there to help them find a way through the mire.

I have read with much interest and sympathy some of your postings and details of some of the cases, to help publicise this site and its workload I have placed it on my blog roll under “takes on the law”. I hope this will help in some way!

I am also interested in the Makenzie Friends/Angels initiative and would appreciate a little more information about it if possible.
I am a second year law student and as such enter the world of ‘Evidence etc’ this year, I am sure that reading through the cases etc here will arm me with some very interesting questions for my lecturer’s to tussle with! ( I am a mature student).

If you would care to e.mail me on the above then please do, I look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you for the clarification, and the addition to the post does make it easier to understand what is being asked of one!
Will have a think and do a bit of research etc over the next week or so (starting back at University on Monday) but at this stage am very attracted to the idea of becoming a Friend, though cannot travel far from here (N. Wales) I may be of some use to somebody in need!
    Thanks again Sabine!

A report by KPMG has found that mortgage fraud reached a record £77 million in 2009. The KPMG Forensic Fraud Barometer found that fraud totalling £1.3 billion came before the UK courts in 2009.

  4. Well done, Norma!

Could you possibly point to the reference of this report?

    Thanks in advance!
