Good news for a change: 50 police officers arrested in child porn raids

Child PornographyIt appears too good to be true, but the Daily Mail has published 50 police officers arrested in child porn raids! Maybe the next step WILL be a Royal Commission on Policing? Just as in New South Wales in 1996, where the result was: corruption, reform, paedophilia… So far, 91 MPs think it’s a good idea!

Fifty police officers across the UK have been arrested as part of a crackdown on suspected paedophiles who pay to access child pornography websites, detectives revealed today.

The officers were among 1,300 people arrested on suspicion of accessing or downloading indecent images of children – some as young as five – from US-based Internet sites.

Thirty-five men were arrested in London this morning as part of the investigation – codenamed Operation Ore – following raids on 45 addresses across the capital.

Of the 50 policemen identified, eight have been charged to date and the remainder bailed pending further inquiries. Scotland Yard said none of those arrested today was a policeman.

At a press conference at Scotland Yard today, Jim Gamble, assistant chief constable of the National Crime Squad, said he was not surprised at the number of police officers among the suspects.

“As police officers, we should expect to be held accountable,” he said.

“Fifty police officers have been identified and we are not hiding that fact. We want you to know about that to reassure you.

“Police officers are member of the communities that they serve and there will be good people and bad people in the police.”

Mr Gamble said the 50 officers were among 1,200 Britons who had been identified as “category one or two” suspects – those who posed the greatest potential risk to children.

In addition, 40 children nationwide – 28 of them in London – had been identified as being at risk of being abused and appropriate steps had been taken with other agencies to ensure that all the youngsters were safe.

Before today’s arrests, the Metropolitan Police had executed 75 warrants across the capital with 65 arrests and more than 130 computers seized. Although 7,000 suspected users of “pay-per-view” child pornography sites based in the US were identified in Britain, Mr Gamble said the actual number of offenders would probably be lower, partly due to duplicates.

The Met’s Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Carole Howlett, said today’s raids represented the single largest operation of its kind mounted so far by the force.

She added: “Our priority so far has been to identify those individuals on the list that pose the greatest threat to children now.

“But this process is on-going … and it will continue after today, even though it is extremely resource intensive.”

Ms Howlett also announced that the Home Office had agreed to allocate an extra £500,000 to support further action as part of Operation Ore.

She said the money would be used to provide extra training in computer forensics for officers across the country and to buy more equipment for analysing computers seized.

Commenting on today’s operation, children’s charity NSPCC said it had been assisting the Met by responding to any emerging child protection matters.

Colin Turner, head of NSPCC’s specialist investigation service, said: “The arrests send out a strong warning to those that think they can remain anonymous and escape the law by using the Internet to trade in child abuse images.

“Behind these indecent, abusive images are real children who will have suffered immense damage and trauma.”

Operation Ore is the UK wing of a huge FBI operation which traced 250,000 paedophiles worldwide last year through credit card details used to pay for downloading child porn.

The names of British suspects were passed on by US investigators.

Suspects were traced through the Landslide web site – a gateway to an international collection of child pornography sites.

Thomas Reedy, who ran the web site and earned millions from it, is now serving several life sentences in the US.

  1. This is GOOD news I have been ” Banging On ” about the known fact that many authority figures are being “COVERED ” or shielded from investigation by their equally corrupt brothers in perversion ,to use an old Met . saying : “DOG DOES NOT EAT DOG ” .God Bless You All . JIM .

  2. Phil Thompson says:

REJOICE. Let me assure you ALL that some of these SCUM will leave this earth by their own volition. The others who are left will squeal and so extend the investigation to the ones in POWER who have suppressed this corruption.. NOW, my GREATEST HOPE. That their CRIMES will not be COVERED up by HIGHER UPs like a certain Policeman who struck a man behind the thighs and then forcefully thrust him down. We all know the case. There must NOT be a COVER UP like the case concerning this Policeman. BUT then because of this new found evidence we will enter into another Judicial cover up. UP and UP the vine of CORRUPTION will be exposed. I say this because people in POWER KNEW of this VILLANY but remained SILENT.

  3. Colin Peters says:

I do not believe that it is ‘Good News’ that so many police officers have been contributing funds to child porn websites.
To the contrary, I find it appalling that so many of those appointed and paid to protect the public can be party to such evil due to their own base desires.

However, what I do find encouraging and ‘Good News’ is the fact that the Daily Mail has seen fit to publish this information.

    What about the next step?

Some time ago I remember reading about Operation Ore and it was claimed at that time that a number of prominent lawyers and judges were on the list of perverts who subscribed to the website

Where do they get a mention in the Daily Mail, or are they exempt from being put under the public spotlight?

Under the freedom of information act, is it possible that we, the public, can have sight of the Operation Ore listings?

    • Yes, yes, yes, Colin!!!

Go and study http://www.WhatDoTheyKnow.com (I think that’s the right ending, am off-line right now). A brilliant and largely under-used resource for activists!

      GO FOR IT!!!

    • Pete says:

These police officers do not have CRB checks, many police officers get suspended while being investigated and return to the same duties…Sexual offences don’t make any difference to them” they are a law upon themselves only the public can change things for the better, but the police have a lot of control over the media….

  4. Phil Thompson says:

I had mentioned earlier that the people most likely to be able to actually have access to children and to do their will to them are Social Workers, Guardians and all their contacts like the Police, Lawyers, Magistrates, Judges and Doctors. EACH of these wee able to exchange photos of children in their care. THERE IS NO KNOWN PLACE TO WHERE CHILDREN ARE TAKEN AFTER THEY ARE SNATCHED FROM THEIR PARENTS ARMS. Having seen so much CORRUPTION could I be wrong. IF ONLY OUR GOVERNMENT allows a FULL investigation there could be an end to FALSE ADOPTIONS and a new ERA of what Social Services SHOULD be.

    • Yes, Phil, IF “they” were interested in “doing the right thing”, they WOULD find every child on every photo and “protect” it from further harm…!!!

BUT, as we are finding out gradually, one family at a time, “they” are up to no good at all…

Let’s take solace in doing as best as we can – DESPITE of what they are doing!…

Their time will come, gradually, one cop / lawyer / judge at a time, or maybe even 50 at a time!

      • Robert Dooran says:

‘IF “they” were interested in “doing the right thing”, they WOULD find every child on every photo and “protect” it from further harm…!!!’

Have you considered that this might not be possible? Also it seems insensitive to refer to victims of child abuse as ‘it’.

        • Phil Thompson says:

Dear Robert, referring to “it”. I had read an article describing a woman who was accidently shot. The paper reported that she was taken to hospital where several pellets were removed from her posterior but that there were several left in her yet. Using good grammar could you explain this question. What is a womans yet?. The last word in the previous sentence. Smile please.

  5. Stanley Embling says:

Brilliant…..Hopefully those from other areas of Public Authority allegedly involved; also those in the Holly Greig (Scotland,) cover-up will be trawled in by this net!… but I fear when we get satanic worshipers from The Masonic Lodges and Bilderbergers controlling our country, our Laws, the Courts, and Police then as happened in the many other areas, then it will only be the small fish that gets dragged in..

    • Well put, Stan, it’s really sad that, the older we get, the more cynical we have to become!… Let’s keep our spirits up against all the odds!!!

At this point, I’m mainly worried about the false flag attack that has clearly been planned – presumably for the closing ceremony.

There are far too many indicators NOT to see / believe it. However, how many people are willing and able to think the unthinkable and imagine the unimaginable: that the global elite is working knowingly AGAINST people and planet???

When will they realise that “enough of us” know???

‘Good news for a change: 50 police officers arrested in child porn raids’

You have a strange definition of news. This story appeared in the mail on 17th December 2002. It is almost ten years old.

  7. Stanley Embling says:

Robert Dooran:- If you care to Google this site http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-151784/50-police-officers-arrested-child-porn-raids.html … You will see it takes you to today’s page in the Daily Mail; but otherwise when you look at the Mail Listings for today news, the Story does not appear ..so who’s right and who’s wrong?? Regards Stan

  8. Stanley Embling says:

It appears Operation Ore began in 1999..It would also appear that things have been “Swept under the Carpet” by the Police over the many years, possibly to allow the many perverts operating allegedly from High public Office(s) (still living,) would have a far better chance to conceal and suppress such involvement would you not think??

  9. Roger Gough says:

From an ex-Met Copper (ret’d 1993). In ‘around 2003’ when I was living in Richmond, Surrey, Operation Ore was already operating. Returning home one autumn evening there was a massive traffic jam at the top of RIchmond Hill which lasted for some time; infuriating. I subsequently learned that the source was the arrest of one of the one-time members of the ‘Who’ band who lived in a v.expensive house at that location (next to Jagger). The scrum was caused by the local ‘finest’ cordoning off the road to allow the papparazi and reporters to get their copy and pix. I wonder how that news was circulated? I complained at the next local PPCG and was assured by the Ch Supt that it wouldn’t happen again: ‘It was as a result of Operation Ore so the circumstances are exceptional’. I can’t believe that this investigation is continuing.

  10. Robert Dooran says:

It is extremely disingenuous to post old articles and present them as ‘news’. It was only last week that Sabine awarded John Hemming a completely fictional PHD and only amended the post when somebody purporting to be his wife corrected her.

    • Phil Thompson says:

Dear Robert Dooran. There is a vacancy in my local dogs home where they do not allow the use of chemicals. Volunteers are required to crush fleas between their thumbnails and because your penchant for detail I feel that you could be an ideal candidate. BUT THEN. I ALSO fall into the same category. PLEASE keep in mind that social services are the ENEMY.

      • I actually wonder, Phil, why he, who complains not only about me and my website all the time, bothers to produce 108 comments!?… His own ideologies, beliefs and values? What does he think he is achieving? Why is his logic so superficial and banal? Why doesn’t he study our dishonest money system , before making boring comments?

Well, maybe he learns from us, whilst serving his masters!?…

    • Robert Dooran says:

      Hi Sabine

‘Why is his logic so superficial and banal?’

If my logic is so flawed you will have no difficulty in disproving my arguments using reason. As it is you ignore them.

‘What does he think he is achieving?’

The voice of dissent should be welcomed in any debate. You seem to only want comments that adhere to your rather blinkered world view.

‘Well, maybe he learns from us, whilst serving his masters!?’

This is a quite predictable smear. Just because I disagree with you, you assume that I have some sort of vested interest. Who do you think my ‘masters’ are?

      Regards
      Robert

  11. Richard Colborne says:

Alas, the Daily mail article headlined “50 police officers arrested in child porn raids” is carrying the current date, updated daily, and NOT the date of publication.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-151784/50-police-officers-arrested-child-porn-raids.html#ixzz22IpeGFd3

It would be comforting to learn of fifty corrupt police officers being arrested for any of the sort of crimes corrupt officers commit, but the Daily Mail story concerning Operation Ore is, I was about to guess, over five years, old and as another poster has diligently searched out the details to inform us, actually dated back to 17/12/2002. Doesn’t time fly!

Former assistant chief constable Jim Gamble is quoted in the article as if he were currently in the job, so knowing that he hadn’t held that post for quite a while, it was clear that the story is very old.

Operation Ore became discredited in the eyes of many people and was closed down, though probably not closed down because it was discredited!

As far as one could tell, the way Operation Ore worked was simple: In the years prior to its demise, legislation in the U.S. allowed access to certain websites offering photos of children, primarily girls from age four upwards, that were either scantily clad or naked, provided certain criteria were met; e.g. they were not touching themselves inappropriately.

It would appear that many parents in the U.S.A. thought such photos were perfectly decent and sold the images of their children via the studios. However; there was a problem here in the U.K. – of which the police were obviously well aware and therefore knowingly exploited it to entrap people – because purchasing, possessing, or selling-on such images of children, has at sometime been vaguely defined as an offence by an Act of Parliament.

As far as I know the law (actually parliamentary legislation) relating to this is still a grey area in the U.K. and whenever I see anyone displaying photos indoors of their children naked, I suggest they hide them, even if their children customarily run around naked. Parents in the U.K. have certainly been charged for making or possessing pictures of their children in baths, paddling pools, etc, but I don’t know of any actual convictions.

The Operation Ore scam involved mainly the Metropolitan Police and the U.S. Federal bureau of Investigation. The FBI required customer account details from all U.S. based providers of said material, and while those customers in the U.S.A. were committing no offence, the FBI. then forwarded the customer account details of all people in the U.K. (though not of other countries to my knowledge) to the Metropolitan Police, and they then carried out raids, took away computers, and prosecuted those that had purchased pictures of ‘underage’ girls.

This of course is entrapment, and who knows how many of the men prosecuted in the U.K. would not have committed any offence, had the material not been offered for sale openly on the internet?

The FBI agents might not have had any qualms about their part in this scam, as law enforcement agencies and courts in the U.S.A. have a different attitude towards entrapment: they see it as morally legitimate, whereas here in the U.K. it is frowned upon; thank goodness!

It appears that in the U.S.A. the law has changed from one extreme to another; this being highlighted by the bizarre case of an 18 year old youth charged with possessing an indecent picture of a minor on his mobile phone, when the picture in his possession was actually that of his 16 year old wife! This case is bad enough as far as it goes, and one hopes he wasn’t convicted and that no harm was done to the couple’s relationship.

I’ve no idea whether relevant legislation has changed in the U.K. within the years since Operation Ore, or whether parents are still at risk if they take or keep photos of their children having fun at bath time.

Operation Ore was certainly set up and used to fool the public into believing that the police were dealing with a ‘paedophile’ problem, while the real offenders, rumoured to sometimes include senior police officers, judges, and politicians may have carried on just as before. Of course, Operation Ore also distracted officers from real investigations, allowed real criminals to escape conviction, and soaked up taxpayers’ money, as these things always do!

I am saddened by the lack of reasoning by so called worldly wise adults
robert the doormat will get this.

All dirty govnts. use dirty tricks ! when homo sexuality was a criminal offence
certain govnts. had queers, pooftahs, shirt lifters, etc. getting into bed with
British govnt. MPs. ministers etc. all converted by attending public schools as
young boys. Britain is world famous for this security weakness !

These sad buggers were photographed and blackmailed into providing
information etc. Its a “honey trap” for queers, hetro-sexuals. get caught
with Kristine Keeler and Mandy Rice- Davies common denominator is
senior-junior MPs, Ministers, influential arrogant dick heads in the establishment re. judges.

Since having homo sexual relations was de- criminalised and ni on compulsory
the yanks devised a scam to secure intelligence by making paedophilia
available on the net. The silly dirty buggers paid for their vice on credit
cards, Uncle Sam waited until the net was full ! operation ore, offered up
the usual suspects ! but kept the juicy influential paedos secret re. George
Robertson of Dunblane fame and carried on blackmailing for intelligence
purposes, these poor sods are still providing info. and scared to death of
    being exposed.

The British Govnt. uses the same tactics and conceals child snatching etc.
as was clearly exposed in the Royal Commission Enquiry NSW police
    paedophiles .

Robert the doormat is in full knowledge of the facts ! but he cannot dispute
them, so he descends into personal attacks that expose his true situation !

Dunblane report locked away for 100 years ! WHY ? who are the Paedos?

  13. Robert Dooran says:

When this article was written the Iraq War hadn’t even started and it would be at least another six years until Barack Obama’s inauguration. This isn’t ‘news’ by any sane definition.

It will lead right up to the Queen as she had broken her Oath with God, she had allowed EVIL to take control of this country and as punishment, British people are enslaved again. God is within each and every one of us: we just need to channel that positive energy to combat the dark energy that these greedy lunatics create. Did you know that our universe exist only on the energy of LOVE? LOVE gives a stable and non-destructive energy/frequency to our universe.
